The Lord Is With You! – Heaven Is Calling Lesson 4
Hello Everyone! Welcome to lesson 4 in the Bible Art Journaling Challenge series, Heaven Is Calling! If you’ve not seen lesson one yet, I encourage you to start at the beginning so we can go on a journey together in this free 12-part devotional series.
I want to focus in now, as we continue talking about connecting with a good God. We are all called to great things and at times, any part of our calling or purpose can feel daunting. But I want to remind you today that, the Lord is with you! He does not send you out without the grace or tools to succeed. Let’s talk about this.
I’ve changed things up a bit for this lesson. Grab your Bible and whatever supplies you’re excited about use and let’s do this together in real time!
Scripture
I used my Single Column ESV Journaling Bible, for this lesson. The section of scripture is in Judges chapters 6-7. Specifically Judges 6:12-16 where the angel of the Lord appears to Gideon. He was the youngest man in the weakest family of his tribe and felt the most insignificant person to be called to do great things for God. Gideon felt so insignificant, that he questioned God a few times to help him gain confidence. But God’s message was clear…
12 The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!”
13 “Sir,” Gideon replied, “if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? And where are all the miracles our ancestors told us about? Didn’t they say, ‘The Lord brought us up out of Egypt’? But now the Lord has abandoned us and handed us over to the Midianites.”
14 Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!”
15 “But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!”
16 The Lord said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.”
You know, God is GOOD and He LOVES to pluck us out of insignificance and give us great things to do with His full backing! We just need to believe Him when He say’s He is with us.
I think this devotional really ties in with the very first Bible Art Journaling Challenge I did. Good stuff. God’s Word really does have everything we need for all seasons and situations.
Believe it!
I want you to ask yourself two simple questions right now.
- What is God calling me to do?
- Do I need to start believing God is with me?
If you’re not sure, try looking at what He has put a passion in your heart for. It doesn’t have to sound spiritual. God can’t call everyone to preach and minister in church, or there would be nobody to serve in the community and do life in great ways outside the church walls. He calls us to all different things so that we collectively can positively impact the world around us.
Perhaps you’re not sure what to do to start believing that God is with you. If that is where you are at, that is okay! It’s good to be honest with ourselves about where we are and get serious about growing from that place.
If you’re trying to believe God is with you, but finding it hard, I want to encourage you to take some time to ask yourself what makes you not believe. When we learn what that is, we can repent of believing those lies by just admitting what we’ve learned about ourselves, asking God for forgiveness and then turning from those beliefs and abandoning their hold on our mind.
We can make new beliefs and habits by practicing them and just getting back up when we fail. It is important that we fail in life. It proves we are risking at something worth fighting for.
We all have times where we need reminded of how great the God is who lives inside our hearts. Today, is as good a day as any, to take a moment and add some fire to what our heart burns for and run with the passions He has given us.
May we step into greater places with God as we recognize His call on our life and fully believe that the Lord is with us!

Hello Rebekah, I just found Bible journaling few weeks ago, and I just love this now. My Bible was always full of notes and color and now I am trying to make things more creative as I read and try to decorate some. We live in Brazil, South America, and I don’t have all the materials you show at your blog, so I am trying to do with we have. I try to by at internet and is very expensive. Also, I am doing this with my daughter. She is almost 11 and she is loving too. My husband and I are planing to spend a year at USA, then I will be able to buy more supplies. Thank you for share your talent, time and devotionals.

Great as always!
I just wanted you let you know that you have not linked this session on to the main page to the study yet…I was getting my friend to start the challenge with me and noticed. I know you have been busy so I thought I would point it out just in case you forgot.
I have been following you for ever and have been doing this challenge since the beginning and I totally tell everyone about you. I am also doing your other course on scrapbook .com! My husband says I talk about you all the time like we are friends or something haha
Anyway keep up the great work and can’t wait till your next post.
