I want to talk to you about vulnerability. Let’s look at some well known scripture. The King James Version of 2 Corinthians 12 says, “…My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness…”.

You may have likely heard a dozen different sermons on this scripture. It’s good to know God has grace for us! Right?! But, well… the second part of that is where everyone has a different opinion on things.

What DOES it mean for God’s strength to be made perfect in our weakness?

Let’s look at the same scripture in a bit of context, through the perspective of The Passion Translation (TPT)… 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

⁹ But he answered me, “My grace is always more than enough for you, and my power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me. ¹⁰ So I’m not defeated by my weakness, but delighted! For when I feel my weakness and endure mistreatment—when I’m surrounded with troubles on every side and face persecution because of my love for Christ—I am made yet stronger. For my weakness becomes a portal to God’s power.

Hello Everyone! As many of you know, I have been releasing a new blog post every Tuesday since the beginning of 2015 for my Bible Art Journaling Challenge. Today is Tuesday. I woke up early, working on the finishing touches to this weeks challenge. And then I had the sudden need for a nap before finishing.

This is strange for me. I’ve not had a nap in a long while and certainly not at 9am! I have long given up resisting such odd things in my life, as they generally are God trying to do something. And He was.

I woke up an hour later no more refreshed for having slept, but a word was stirring in my heart. It was so strong I decided to abandon finishing the challenge straight away to share it on facebook on my page and in the groups I admin. I’ll share it with you in a moment.

I was pondering something about my life today and pondering love.

When I was younger, I had a fairly “pretty” speaking voice. When I was 14, I took on a job care-taking and cleaning for a rather grumpy and bitter old woman next door to our farm. Her son hired me to give her a “last bit of independence”.

I could see the good in her but for months she was determined to prove to me she did not care for me at all. I was a stubborn teenager and determined to share God’s love with her in demonstration, for as long as it might take her to let me in. Meanwhile, she stubbornly pushed against my love, shouting grumpy complaints of my “lack of capable skill” to do such things as vacuum until the carpet was no more. Psalm 54 is a perfect picture of what faith looks like in the face of difficult circumstances. Go ahead, read it! It is seven verses long.

Save me, O God, by Your name,
And vindicate me by Your power.
² Hear my prayer, O God;
Give ear to the words of my mouth.
³ For strangers have risen against me
And violent men have sought my life;
They have not set God before them. Selah.

⁴ Behold, God is my helper;
The Lord is the sustainer of my soul.
⁵ He will recompense the evil to my foes;
Destroy them in Your faithfulness.

⁶ Willingly I will sacrifice to You;
I will give thanks to Your name, O Lord, for it is good.
⁷ For He has delivered me from all trouble,
