Learn the difference between a Journaling Bible and a Wide-Margin Bible here. Across this guide, I have called all Bibles with space for creativity, a “Journaling Bible”. In reality, Crossway publishers trademarked the title before Bible journaling was popular, meaning that no other publishers can use the same name which has become the phrase used to describe the type of Bible best suited for creating in the Word.

Where possible, Bibles in this part of the guide are not in multiple categories. Instead, I’ve tried to put them in the category which best describes their most key function. For example, some One Year Bibles do have line art in them, but their main function is to be a One Year Bible, so they do not show up in the Line Art category.

On this part of the guide only, I have stuck with official terms and put only official plain, “Journaling Bibles” in the Journaling Bible category. All other wide margin Bibles (which are created similarly and are essentially the same type of product) are referred to as “Wide Margin Bibles”, which also have plain margin space.

Interleaved Bibles

Line Art Coloring Bibles

These Bibles each have several hundred line-art illustrations ready for you to color, plus blank margins for original creativity. Think of these as the ultimate adult coloring book experience, with the Word at the center of its focus. There is a variety of Bible translations. Consider that each publisher commissioned either one artist, or a group of artists, to create the line art for the Bibles seen here. You’ll find this reflects in the style of the line art in each Bible.

I highly recommend clicking a consideration, where you will generally have an option to peek inside a Bible, to see if the creative style is something which suits your taste. There are plenty of options and a variety of styles in various translations, so if you’re after a Bible with some creativity for you to color in, before creating some original designs in blank margins, I’m sure you’ll find something to enjoy.

Part-Illustrated Bibles

These Bibles come with several hundred full color illustrations to inspire you, plus blank margins for original creativity. There is a variety of Bible translations. Consider that each publisher commissioned either one artist, or a group of artists, to create the illustrations for the Bibles seen here. You’ll find this reflects in the style of the illustrations in each Bible.

I highly recommend clicking a consideration, where you will generally have an option to peek inside a Bible, to see if the creative style of illustrations is something which suits your taste. There are plenty of options and a variety of styles, so if you’re after a part-illustrated Bible, I’m sure you’ll find something to enjoy.

Study & Devotional Bibles

One Year Bibles

These One Year Bibles are filled with creative entries and black space for original creativity, but the key difference is that each day of the year has your Bible reading mapped out in a Chronological order. If you want to read straight through the Bible in a year and with a different order than traditional Bibles, these are a great solution. You can start reading/creating any day of the year.

Journaling Bibles

On this part of the guide only, I will stick with official terms and put only official “Journaling Bibles” in this category. All other wide margin Bibles (which are created similarly and are essentially the same type of product) will be referred to as “Wide Margin Bibles”. There are no Bibles in this category which could be considered illustrated, or coloring Bibles.
