I have some exciting news about an upcoming creativity challenge I’ll be launching which we are going to have so much fun with! First, have you heard of bible art journaling? People are buying wide-margin bibles and dedicating them as a place to creatively engage with the Word of God. Those who feel they have little creative experience, (or plenty) and a hunger to know God more, are finding deeper places in their time with Him. We are not talking about disrespecting a bible here. We are talking about finding scriptures which speak most to us on a page, and then creating something which makes the point beautifully. We’re talking about God revealing His Word to us, and us taking a bit of time to create a sort of remembrance stone… something in which we can remember how He spoke to us with His Word that will be there to even pass on to other generations. Hello Everyone! Welcome to week 41 of the Bible Art Journaling Challenge! One of the top questions I get asked regularly, is what to do about creating on the back side of a Bible page. Essentially, some art supplies can bleed to the back side of Bible pages without page prep applied first and then people can feel they are stuck with one beautiful side and one side that is basically “ruined”. Hello Everyone! Welcome to week 25 of my Bible Art Journaling Challenge! This week I pulled out a beautiful old Bible I found at a charity shop here in England. It says it was published in M.DCCC.LV. That’s the roman numeral for the year 1855!
This Bible was appointed to be read in churches. It was a real treasure to find and I really enjoy using it for creative purposes to give it use again and enjoy it rather than allowing it to sit and collect dust somewhere.
For this challenge, I used Twinkling H2O’s and Yasutomo Pearlescent Watercolor. Both are stunning in person and hard to catch on camera. I admittedly thought I’d find the shimmery effect to look tacky when I first used them. Quite the opposite occurred. I got left with [click to continue…]
Hello Everyone! Welcome to week 18 of my Bible Art Journaling Challenge! Today I’ve used some beautiful Liquitex Pro Heavy Body Acrylic Paint, with some Chitchat Stickers and Label Letters from the Tim Holtz Idea-ology collection. It feels like I ended up with a cheerful little creative spot on my Bible page, which took very little time to create. Perfect for those of us with little time on our hands and also few supplies!
